Gift Names Deanship at Wilson College of Textiles

A new gift from Anil Kochhar and his wife Marilyn will create three endowments, including NC State’s fourth named deanship, in memory of his father, Prakash Chand Kochhar ’50, ’52.

Two Poole Students Named 2029 Caldwell Fellows

Sawyer Graham and Sarah El-Shafei have been named to the 59th class of Caldwell Fellows. As part of one of the oldest high-impact experiences at NC State, they will be taught how to be “servant leaders” and receive close mentorship with exclusive classes and programs for the next three years.

Wolfpack Club Board of Directors Welcomes New Members

For nearly 90 years, the Wolfpack Club, led by a 20-member volunteer Board of Directors, has worked diligently to financially support NC State Athletics through scholarships, facility improvements and more. The Wolfpack Club recently welcomed Kevin Cutts, Beth Roach, Anna Sullivan and Jeff Wright to the board, each of whom brings incredible energy, heart and a passion for NC State to their role.

6 NC State Faculty Elected AAAS Fellows

Six NC State faculty members, including several distinguished professors, have been elected fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The association is the world’s largest scientific society and the publisher of the journal Science.

Kody Kinsley Receives William C. Friday Award

The Park Scholarships program’s class of 2026 recently honored former North Carolina Secretary of Health and Human Services Kody Kinsley with the William C. Friday award. The annual honor, which was established in 2000 and named for the former president of the University of North Carolina System, recognizes individuals who emulate Friday’s dedication to scholarship, leadership, service and character.

The College of Education’s Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research and NC State Extension’s #PassTheMicYouth have been named dual recipients of the Opal Mann Green Engagement and Scholarship Award. The award commemorates the legacy of Opal Hurley Mann Green, a former NC State faculty member whose career reflected the power of universities to address public challenges through partnership, research and service.

An interdisciplinary team has developed a nondestructive method for extracting animal DNA from ancient parchment. Matthew Breen, a professor of genomics and the Oscar J. Fletcher Distinguished Professor of Comparative Oncology Genetics in the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, was part of the team.
