Two women help stock the Feed the Pack food pantry

Help Feed the Pack Go Mobile This Day of Giving

Steve ’79 and Gladys Deaton, longtime supporters of Pack Essentials and the Feed the Pack food pantry, will partner with an anonymous couple to give $50,000 when the Student Emergency, Feed the Pack and Pack Essentials funds reach 850 total cumulative gifts on Day of Giving (March 20). This year’s donation will be immediately earmarked for a specific purpose: purchasing a van to pick up food donations for the pantry.

CZI Announces Multi-Institutional Collaborations for Developing Technology to Better Understand Cells

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative recently announced four multi-year grants that will bring together regional labs in California, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Research Triangle in North Carolina to explore the frontiers of genomics, cell biology and synthetic biology. NC State is one of these universities, with its work in the project aimed at helping researchers better understand cellular organization, nervous system function and neurological diseases.

Poole Alumni Launch Startup to Foster Human Connection

Through the Andrews Launch Accelerator, business administration graduates Thomas Armstrong and Parker Mayes created LetsGo Raleigh to “make it easy for people to spend time with each other.” Startups that complete the Accelerator program are provided with equity-free seed capital via the NC State Acceleration Fund, which is the product of a $1 million donation from Lyn and Chip ’66 Andrews.

Diversity in STEM Events Draw Hundreds from College of Sciences, NC State Communities

Hundreds of Wolfpack members attended two events in early February to learn about issues facing diverse populations in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Both events were organized by the College of Sciences and sponsored by the chemical-production group BASF.

Naji Husseini Wins University Teaching Award

Naji Husseini, Park Faculty Scholar for the class of 2026 and teaching assistant professor in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, was recently honored with the 2024 Johnston Teaching Excellence Award. The award is presented annually by the Center for Faculty Excellence and recognizes the University of North Carolina System’s dedication to exceptional teaching and mentorship of both graduate and undergraduate students.
