Distinguished Professorship Will Be Renamed to Honor Former ABB President and CEO

The ABB Distinguished Professorship will soon be renamed the ABB Enrique Santacana Distinguished Professorship in honor of Santacana, former president and CEO of ABB, who passed away in October 2023. Santacana was recently recognized at the annual FREEDM Systems Center Research Symposium for his instrumental contributions to establishing the ABB Distinguished Professorship and other endowments at NC State.

Exchange Program Promotes Positive Youth Development Through Sports

Empowering New Voices through Education and Sport Training, or “ENVEST,” is a cultural exchange program that aims to improve the capacity of coaches to implement youth soccer programs that increase leadership skill development and promote respect for differences and inclusion among participants. Jason Bocarro, the Owens-Shelton Distinguished Professor of Leadership with a Global Perspective at NC State, is a co-director of the program.

Spontak Awarded Honorary Doctorate at NTNU Doctoral Awards Ceremony

Richard Spontak, a distinguished professor in the College of Engineering with joint appointments in the departments of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, was recently awarded an honorary doctorate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) during its Doctoral Awards Ceremony. The ceremony recognized Spontak’s exceptional contributions to chemical process engineering and polymer science.
