The Libraries Announces Whitney Barlow Robles as the Tom Regan Visiting Research Fellow for 2023

The Libraries has awarded the 2023 Tom Regan Visiting Research Fellowship to Whitney Barlow Robles, a lecturer in the Department of History at Dartmouth College. Robles will visit the Libraries for her month-long fellowship in the late summer of 2023. Intended to promote scholarly research in animal rights, the fellowship has been established through the generosity of the Culture and Animals Foundation in memory of scholar, author and former NC State philosophy faculty member Tom Regan.

But agents and staff are working hard to make sure at-risk kids have a place at North Carolina’s 4-H summer camps. A recent crowdfunding campaign also inspired donors to help fund more than 10 scholarships.

New Libraries Gift Supports Students Who Are Passionate About Education

Pete and Theresa Dyke have created the Timothy R. Jenney Memorial Libraries Scholarship, which will provide a partial scholarship to a Libraries student worker from the College of Education, with a preference for those who are first-generation. The scholarship is part of the Libraries’ continuing efforts to support student success and make education more affordable.

The name Ed Fitts is likely a familiar one to students, faculty and staff members, and alumni of the College of Engineering, with Fitts-Woolard Hall and the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering named in honor of his philanthropy. It’s also becoming a familiar name in his hometown of Littleton, North Carolina, where Fitts and his wife, Deb, have undertaken the kind of revitalization that so many rural communities across the nation dream of and need.
