Extraordinary Difference: Taylor Rhodes
On Dec. 31, 2021, NC State’s five-year Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign came to an incredibly successful close. Alumni, friends, employees and more helped propel the university well past its goal of $1.6 billion for a grand total of $2,103,932,120. These new funds will help drive NC State’s land-grant mission of creating economic, societal and intellectual prosperity for all, by both reaffirming its commitment to broad educational opportunity and powering its cutting-edge, hands-on innovation as North Carolina’s leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) university.
First-generation college student Taylor Rhodes ’21 is one of the many Pack members who have been benefited by this historic fundraising effort. Rhodes wants to take what she learned at NC State and give back to farmers in her community. Thanks to support from the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign, she was able to graduate debt-free and can begin impacting her family’s agricultural company and her community sooner than would otherwise be possible.
“To Dr. and Mrs. Gordon, who created [the Gordon Family Farm-to-Philanthropy Program scholarship], thank you,” Rhodes said. “You are giving students like me the opportunity to achieve our educational and career aspirations. You’re changing someone’s life, and you’re relieving them of financial stress.”
