Landscape Architecture Professor Lewis Clarke Passes Away at 94

Lewis Clarke, FASLA, passed away on June 6, 2021. Clarke catalyzed the evolution of American landscape architecture for more than 65 years as a professor at the North Carolina State University School (now College) of Design and as a visiting lecturer at numerous universities. Through nearly five decades of active practice, his achievements were multi-faceted, award-winning and historically significant. His contributions endure through donated papers and drawings at NC State University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center.

Farm Credit Associations of NC Supports Soldier to Ag Program

The Farm Credit Associations of North Carolina, the leading provider of credit to farmers and rural residents in North Carolina, has made a generous $30,000 gift to NC State’s Soldier to Agriculture Program. The five-week program — offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Agricultural Institute — provides in-depth career introductions and hands-on training to help veterans make the transition from military service to a career in agriculture, North Carolina’s top industry. In addition, the Farm Credit Associations of North Carolina has been named a 2021-2022 sponsor of the program.

New Programming Provides Opportunity for Park Scholars To Examine Racial Inequity

In the summer of 2020, with funding from the One Park One Pack: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Fund, the Park Scholars program embarked on a process to add programming on systemic racism and its impact to provide students with foundational knowledge essential for understanding and addressing racial injustice. That led to the addition of a three-part session designed to introduce students to the impact of racial inequality in the United States this spring.

Meet Neill Robson – Application Developer, Software Engineer and Two-Time College of Engineering Graduate

Neill Robson is a curious and determined application developer and software engineer who graduated in May with a master’s in computer science after having earned a B.S. in computer science from NC State in 2020. During his undergraduate years, Robson spent six weeks studying abroad in Hangzhou, China, and served as a senior Goodnight Scholar mentor, introducing incoming college freshmen to NC State and the Goodnight Scholars program.
