In Memoriam: Randy Ward, 1945-2021

When Randy Ward died June 7, he left an indelible legacy of support and generosity that elevated the College of Veterinary Medicine, which he and his wife, Susan, the current president of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation, loved so much. In addition to naming the Hannah Heart Pavilion at the NC State Veterinary Hospital and helping fund the CVM’s mobile veterinary surgery unit, the Wards created multiple academic, athletic and arts scholarships across the university and were fervent supporters of Arts NC State. “This university has lost one of its greatest advocates and friends. I am very grateful I had the chance to get to know him,” said CVM dean Paul Lunn. “One of my warmest memories of coming to NC State in 2012 was meeting Randy and Susan Ward.”
