Connecting Your World with Your Health

For researchers in NC State's Center for Human Health and the Environment (CHHE), science is a community effort and aiding communities around the state is a regular part of the job. Recent activities have included answering residents' questions about carbon monoxide and mold issues in Durham public housing, helping Wilmington residents better understand the chemicals in their drinking water and holding a Q&A in a Raleigh food hall about the dangers of vaping. Rob Smart, Goodnight Distinguished Chair in Molecular Toxicology in the Department of Biological Sciences, is the founding and current director of CHHE, one of about 25 National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Environmental Health Sciences Core Centers in the United States.

NC State Libraries Welcomes First Everett Intern

The NC State University Libraries announced the selection of computer science major Kamai Guillory as the first Susan Ellen Everett Library Intern. This undergraduate internship allows its recipient to explore new and innovative applications for technologies associated with extended reality and immersive environments. R.O. Everett (‘47) and his wife Edith endowed the the internship, named after their NC State graduate daughter, with a gift through their estate.

Alumna Makes Business NC Power 100 List

Sepi Saidi, named to Business North Carolina’s Power 100 List, has stayed engaged in NC State's Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering by serving on the advisory board and delivering keynote speeches at events it hosts, such as the 2019 American Society of Biological Engineers Southeastern Regional Student Rally. She's also a member of the NC State University Foundation Board.

CVM Alums Give Back to SimLab that Gave Them So Much

The NC State College of Veterinary Medicine’s Class of 2019 was the first to use the CVM’s Simulation Lab — and they loved it. In fact, they appreciated using the lab to master common, yet important, surgical techniques so much that they gave a generous parting gift to purchase more models for future students.

A Champion Beyond the Court

Sam Hunt made the most of his time as a transfer student-athlete to NC State, both on and off the court. As a men's basketball player, he enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ online graduate certificate program in leadership and volunteer management, completing it in 2018. Now working as a graduate assistant for the Wolfpack squad, Hunt is completing his master’s degree in youth, family and community science.

An Anonymous Gift Leads to a Lasting Tribute to Randy Foy

From 1995 until 2013, Randy Foy led two student and community musician groups for the NC State Department of Music, serving as an educator and mentor. An anonymous donor has created the Randy Foy Music Scholarship Endowment to honor his memory and service.

Humane Society of the United States Donates Records to the Libraries

The NC State University Libraries Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) is excited to announce the donation of the historical records of the Humane Society of the United States, which will benefit scholars and other researchers. The records include original correspondence, publications and photographs dating from the mid-1950s, encompassing the organization's activities in promoting the protection of companion animals, farm animals, animals in laboratories and wildlife.
