Nikhil Milind, a 2019 Goldwater Scholar and Park Scholar, is melding computer science and biology to explore links between genetics and disease. Outside the lab, the classically trained violinist and pianist enjoys playing the guitar and ukulele.

Three Teams Begin 2019 Andrews Launch Accelerator

The 2019 Andrews Launch Accelerator cohort has begun three months of intensive learning sessions and mentoring at the Entrepreneurship Clinic. In 2016, NC State alumnus Chip Andrews and his wife Lyn established the NC State Acceleration Fund that awards grants annually to student startup companies. Lelon Winstead, an alum and member of the Wolfpack Investor Network, is assisting as a mentor.

Ragland Foundation to Provide Scholarships to Teachers Seeking Advanced Degrees in K-12 Reading

A $25,000 gift from the W. Trent Ragland Jr. Foundation will allow the College of Education to support a fifth cohort of teachers seeking a master’s degree in new literacies and global learning with a specialization in K-12 reading. The foundation established the Teaching and Leading Literacy Scholarship Program in 2016 and has provided scholarships of $2,000 to nearly 60 teachers who are part of the NLGL’s literacy cohort.

Graduation to Vocation: Applying Research in Tree Water Usage to Real-World Issues

Andrea Medenblik, recipient of a Graduate Research Fellowship, just earned a master's degree from the College of Natural Resources and will be working as a hydrologist at the U.S. Geological Survey Center in Raleigh. She says CNR prepared her by the future through its diverse curriculum, the infrastructure to perform research, and opportunities to engage with faculty and peers.

Engineering’s Crown Jewel

Work continues on Centennial Campus' next iconic structure. Fitts-Woolard Hall will open its doors in summer 2020, putting some of the College of Engineering's most impactful research on display and standing as an impressive complement to Hunt Library.

Aalia Shariff Named Seventh Distinguished Goodnight Award Recipient

The Distinguished Goodnight Award is presented at the end of the academic year to the undergraduate Goodnight Scholar who best embodied the core values and mission of the program through significant NC State involvement, along with a dedication to professional development, civic engagement and scholastic achievement. Research, outreach and advocacy defined the college experience of Aalia Shariff, a biochemistry and biological sciences double major with a Spanish minor who was chosen as this year's recipient.
