Caldwell Fellows Lists Finalists for Class of 2022

Excitement around Caldwell Fellows Selection Day is building. Sixty first-year students at NC State are finalists for the Caldwell Class of 2022 and will be interviewed Feb. 16 in a full day of activities at Park Alumni Center.

Selma Okyere-Badoo is not wasting any time making her mark at NC State and in the Goodnight Scholars community. She's pursuing a biochemistry major, and she says being a part of the Goodnight Scholars program has been a dream come true.

Barbara Sherman Papers Available for Research

The NC State University Libraries announced the donation of the Barbara Sherman Papers to the Special Collections Research Center. Sherman was a professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine from 1984 until her retirement in 2018. Her research focused on anxiety, fear and aggression in companion animals.

3D-Printed Soft Mesh Robots Created

Led by Orlin Velev, the S. Frank and Doris Culberson Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, researchers at NC State have created 3D-printed flexible mesh structures that can be controlled with applied magnetic fields while floating on water.

Third-year anthropology student Madeline Merz called her semester abroad in Chile a "once in a lifetime opportunity." Private support has helped fund a dramatic increase in the number of NC State students who can study abroad.

Park Scholarships Names Class of 2023 Finalists

The Park Scholarships Selection Committee has chosen finalists for the Class of 2023, and candidates will visit NC State's campus in late February. This year's finalists represent 20 U.S. states and 33 North Carolina counties.

Barrangou Elected to National Academy of Engineering

Rodolphe Barrangou, Todd R. Klaenhammer Distinguished Scholar in Probiotics Research and professor of food, bioprocessing and nutrition sciences, has been elected into the National Academy of Engineering, one of the world's most influential scientific societies. Barrangou is a pioneer in the discovery of the adaptive bacterial immune system known as CRISPR.

Corrigan Introduced as New Athletics Director

After leading the athletics program at the U.S. Military Academy for eight years, Boo Corrigan will become NC State's next director of athletics. Helped by private support from thousands of Wolfpack Club members, Corrigan will lead an program that includes 23 teams, revenue of about $86 million and more than 200 full-time employees.
