Kitchen Remodel is Just What the Doctor Ordered

Thanks to a generous contribution from Nestlé Purina, the kitchens at NC State Veterinary Hospital are getting a state-of-the-art makeover that will support needs for individualized nutrition plans, offer a more integrated educational setting and provide opportunities to improve overall care for all patients.

A Perfect Fit Internship

Goodnight Scholar and environmental advocate Meredith Bain parlayed her love for math, Germany and the environment into a summer internship in Ingolstadt, Germany, where she developed a computer-based greenhouse gas emissions monitoring system to track progress on the city government’s carbon neutrality plan.

First Crop: Park Scholar Says New CALS Major Offers Hands-on Learning

Sophomore Park Scholar Grace Baucom felt like a major had been "designed for her" when she learned about the new agroecology and sustainable food systems program in NC State's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The program, which begins this school year, integrates ecology with agriculture for the development of sustainable agricultural practices and food systems.

Using Smart Spaces

A group of NC State entrepreneurs has launched Atomo, a startup company leveraging indoor spatial intelligence to save energy and improve the indoor experience. The student-alumni group includes two Park Scholars and has benefited from the Andrews Launch Accelerator, Entrepreneurship Garage, Miller Fellows and other programs with private support.

Spotlight on Our Students: Working with Water in Cameroon

Gracie Hornby, a junior University Scholar and civil engineering major from Franklin, recently completed an internship in Yaounde, Cameroon, with the Circle of Women for Social Action and Aid. Hornby put her growing knowledge of engineering concepts to work by spearheading a water quality and sanitation project in five rural villages.

NC FFA Center Breaks Ground on New Dormitory

State FFA leaders, youth, educators and corporate supporters gathered recently to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new female dormitory at the NC FFA Center in Bladen County. The facility, which will bear the name of the SECU Foundation in recognition of its $400,000 gift, is the realization of a dream and represents the commitment of many partners and donors to vital improvements at the center.
