NC State Has its First Newman Fellow

Ashle Page, a Goodnight Scholar and Centennial Scholar, lead ambassador for the Institute for Emerging Issues and graduating senior in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, was named a Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellow. She will continue to focus on technology and policy.

Vishwas Rao, a recent graduate in chemistry, will conduct research at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, thanks to the prestigious award.

Six from Humanities and Social Sciences Receive Fulbrights

The students and alumni will teach or conduct research abroad for a year. Since the national program’s inception in 1946, 68 NC State students and alumni have received Fulbright grants, including 28 since 2012.

Witherspoon Student Center Renovation Planning Begin

Architects from Perkins + Will have unveiled preliminary design concepts for the highly anticipated renovation of Witherspoon Student Center, home of the African American Cultural Center, Military and Veteran Services, Passport Services, an interfaith prayer and meditation space, several student organizations and a cinema. Funding opportunities will be available.
