Prashant Prabhu ’77, ’79 Wins Distinguished Global Alumni Award

Dr. Prashant Prabhu was recently named the recipient of the 2022 Distinguished Global Alumni Award by NC State’s Office of Global Engagement. The award recognizes Prabhu’s esteemed contributions to his alma mater, success within the sustainable-mobility industry and impact on the world.

Meet Textile Pioneer Scholar Alex Hutchens ’24

Alex Hutchens ’24 is a member of the inaugural cohort of Textile Pioneer Scholars, majoring in fashion and textile management with a concentration in brand management and marketing. Thanks to scholarship support, she’s forging her own path at NC State and at the Wilson College of Textiles.

Private support enabled Lara Rabinowitz ’22 to study on campus and abroad during her time at NC State, all while combining seemingly different majors in seamless ways. Now, as one of the university’s most recent graduates, she’s taking her (very) unique skillset out West for an exciting new career opportunity.

Wilson College Equity for Women Award Winners: Past and Present

The Equity for Women Award is given to NC State students, faculty and staff who have helped create opportunities that will assist women in their respective fields. This year, Latasia Priest, director of Alumni Engagement and Strategic Initiatives for the North Carolina Textile Foundation, won the Equity for Women Award in the Staff Category for creating opportunities for women across the university.

Barbara S. Stowe Award Helps Professors Advance Their Careers

Four junior faculty members have won the Barbara S. Stowe Faculty Support Endowment Fund, awarded to junior faculty members or to professors who have been hired by NC State within the last three years. The winners are given $600 to help learn more about their field or network with other professionals or companies.

NC Textile Foundation Appoints Brendan Sullivan as the Next Board President

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the textile and apparel industry, Brendan Sullivan was the clear choice for the North Carolina Textile Foundation’s next board president. In addition to his seven years of service on the foundation’s board of directors, Sullivan will bring his experience as an executive within the VF Corporation to his new appointment with the fundraising arm of the Wilson College of Textiles.

New Community College Partnerships Provide Opportunity for Students and Industry

Two new partnerships will establish a pipeline between one of the United States’ hubs for textile manufacturing and the institution that trains the industry’s top talent. Students dually enrolled through the C3 program will be eligible for NC State scholarships, and many will be eligible for a $14,000 Textile Pioneer Scholarship.

Students Earn Scholarships, Design Inclusive Textile Products Through Cotton Incorporated Competition

Six Wilson College of Textiles students wrapped up the fall semester of 2021 with scholarships after winning the “Cotton for Universal Design” competition, sponsored by Cotton Incorporated as part of the Cotton in the Curriculum grant program.
