College of Sciences Honors Logan Dawson With Outstanding Alumnus Award

The College of Sciences recently presented Logan Dawson with its 2023 Outstanding Alumnus Award, which recognizes accomplished early-career graduate students who have excelled in their professions or through public service. Dawson attended NC State as a Park Scholar and earned bachelor’s degrees in meteorology and marine science in 2012.

Shannon Carney ’23 Named 2023 Student Teacher of the Year

Shannon Carney ’23, a recent graduate of the College of Education’s mathematics education program and a Park Scholar from the class of 2023, has been named the North Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Student Teacher of the Year.

NC State Names 2023 Family of the Year

Meredith Gaskill, a senior in the Wilson College of Textiles from Salisbury, North Carolina, along with her parents and her two older sisters and their families, were recently named NC State’s Family of the Year during the 2023 Parents and Families Weekend. Gaskill is also a Park Scholar and Centennial Scholar.

Student Project Aims To Install Solar Panels at a Primary School in Rwanda

From more than 7,000 miles away, NC State student Jenni Mangala, a Park Scholar and senior majoring in electrical engineering, is coordinating the installation of solar panels at a primary school on an island in Rwanda.

Register Now to Attend Park Scholarships Program’s sPARK Conference

sPark is a biennial leadership and networking conference in which Park Scholars, alumni, parents, faculty and more come together to connect, discover new ideas and celebrate Park Scholars’ accomplishments. The 2023 event will be held Sept. 22 and 23, with registration now available.

321 Coffee to Open Centennial Campus Location

321 Coffee, a Park Scholars alumni-owned and -operated local coffee shop and roaster that employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is launching a new location on Centennial Campus. The company’s first sales were made at NC State, and it grew with support from the Wolfpack community and with the help of NC State-provided resources, including the Andrews Launch Accelerator and Miller Fellowships.
